Trace heating with and without frost protection thermostat

The heating cables are assembled ready to plug in, very flexible and very economical, with consumption of just 15 W per linear metre. They can be utilised directly and contain, depending on the version, an extrusion-coated, integrated mini-thermostat which switches the cable on automatically at around +5 ºC and off again at around +8 ºC. This prevents pipes or similar installations from freezing.

In order to improve heat transmission, the heating cable’s shape is flat with an elliptical cross-section. This significantly increases the surface in contact with the object to be heated (pipe, tank etc.) in comparison with other, round trace heating systems.

Just some of many possible applications:

  • Pipe trace heating
  • Terrariums (without mini-thermostat)
  • Cold frames
  • Satellite receiving stations
  • Dog kennel
  • Camping
  • Water drains

Technical construction of 230 V trace heating systems:

  • Twin heat-conductor technology (just one connection cable) with FEP insulation (Teflon®), copper shielding braid and robust PVC outer sheathing
  • Forward and return conductors generate heat and are made from stranded wire
  • Mini-thermostat for frost protection function, fixed switch-on point at approx. +5 ºC
  • Heating cable complies with VDE standards (DIN EN60335-2-96, 60335-1 and 50366)
  • 230 V/50 Hz, with shock-proof plug, approx.15 W/m (+5%/-10)
  • Testing with 4000 V

Mini-thermostat with frost protection

  • Voltage 230V AC
  • Output 15W/lfm
  • Insulation PTFE (TEFLON®)
  • Additional polyester insulation
  • Copper shielding
  • PVC exterior insulation
  • Supply line 1,5m with Schukostecker

Mini-thermostat without frost protection

  • Voltage 230V AC
  • Output 15W/lfm
  • Insulation PTFE (TEFLON®)
  • Additional polyester insulation
  • Copper shielding
  • PVC exterior insulation
  • Supply line 1,5m with Schukostecker

Without frost protection, 12 V model

  • Voltage 12V
  • Output 15W/lfm
  • Insulation FEP (TEFLON®)
  • Additional polyester insulation
  • Copper shielding
  • with open ends
  • Supply line 1,5m mit Schukostecker

Information: heating cable 12 V

The 12 V heating cable is designed as a flexible connection cable with open ends and is suitable for e.g. use in caravan or boat building, also ideal for greenhouses and tool sheds with a 12 V solar installation.
